| The climate in Baijing, like in most of northern China, is generally hot in the summer and very cold in inter. Summer temperatures average about 30 °C (86 °F) with August being the hottest month, when the daily temperature seldom falls below 24 °C, with extremes as high as 35°C. In winter the temperature can drop to as low as -17 °C (1 °F) with January as the coldest month, when it averages minus 4.9 degrees °C, with extremes as low as minus 24 °C. The city is best visited in summer or autumn,between the motnhs of June and October.
