Why come to study in Dalian?

Dalian Beach

China's Most Liveable City

Dalian’s many parks and gentle hills supply the greenery that many cities in China lack, and that most foreigners crave. Its location on the coast also provides a cool breeze which brings relief from the summer heat. An added bonus (for some) is that Dalian is football/soccer crazy and boasts the most successful club team in the nation!

Dalian was previously a British, Russian and Japanese colony which has influenced the appearance and architecture of the city. Leased as a port to Russia in the 19th Century, it quickly became one of Russia's key locations in Asia for shipping. Eventually it was linked with the Trans-Siberia Railway making it more accesible and expanding it reach to other key locations in Asia.

Dalian boasts a booming economy, a fascinating modern history and cultural background, and great coastal scenery.

In the 20th Century, after the Russo-Japanese War, Dalian was brought under Japanese power and became a main trading port between Japan and Manchuria. It was developed and huge investments were made to modernise the city. In 1950, after World War II, Dalian was presented to the Chinese Communist Government, making it China's largest foreign trading port. Much of the Russian and Japanese influence has been maintained making it a picturesque and unique city.
